Their shows are a lively blend of original music, children's favorites, comedy with a little bit of juggling and mayhem thrown in. Their original music includes songs like the title track from their album "I Like Noise", "A Day at the Beach", and my personal favorite "Sock Monster". In addition to the Brian & Rick duo a full band is available and recommended for larger events or those with the budget to do so, nothing adds to any event like a full band.

They have the kind of music that makes the little ones get up and dance and Mom's and Dad's appreciate that the music is great for listening on car trips.

The Bravo Brothers also offer to non-profit organizations the opportunity to host a low risk fundraising event in the Eastern Massachusetts area where they both call home. Please contact us for the details. However they are available to travel all over the United States.

September 2010 in Review

September is a crazy month, balancing the beginning of the new school year with a busy event schedule is always a challenge, but a welcome challenge. This month we have seen more unseasonably warm weather as well as soaking rain storms, with the occasional fall day thrown in just for kicks.

Labor Day weekend is one of the busiest of the year for fairs and festivals. The Amazing Anastasini's continued their run at the Champlain Valley Fair under the big top as well as the Nerger's Lion & Tiger Show.

Labor Day weekend events typically open on Friday which saw some inclement weather in New England, but at least if the rain has to fall let it be on a weekday. The Spencer Fair in Spencer, Massachusetts opened on Friday with Vicenta Page's Royal White Bengal Tigers as well as a return of the Flying Pages trapeze act. In addition to bringing talent to the Spencer Fair we also create and place the advertising for this event which is the largest event of the year in Worcester County. The Fair Committee in Spencer is made up of all volunteers and they truly come together to put on a really great fair with every element a fair should have. The motor sports are always the most popular events at the fair but Spencer also has a great array of entertainment for young children, a tremendously popular Karaoke contest, great 4H animals and so much more. This year the fair was fortunate enough to receive a grant to cover some improvements to the fairgrounds such as more grandstand seating and a new roof for the exhibit hall.

On Sunday we paid a visit to the Three County Fair where Adam & Elaine Burck were presenting their tiger show which features 3 golden tigers and 3 white tigers including the magnificent Spartacus probably the largest white tiger I have ever seen. Over the summer Adam & Elaine welcomed to their family a litter of cubs, 2 white & 2 golden. Their names as Zeus, Zena, Isis & Ursula. This Northampton facility has really come a long way since the end of horse racing some years ago. The fair is growing in leaps and bounds and has also received a grant to remove and rebuild the stables and well as add an indoor horse show arena and there is a long term plan in place for many more exciting changes to the fairgrounds. Our heartfelt congratulations to Bruce Shallcross and his staff at the Three County Fairgrounds.

The second weekend of September seems to come so quickly, Labor Day comes and goes and boom we're into the second weekend in a flash. The Flying Wallendas made a return engagement for Atlantic Music Productions at the Franklin County Fair in Greenfield, MA.

We also had an open air showing of the Amazing Anastasini Circus in Westport, NY on September 10th to the 12th. The show played a rather last minute engagement to tie together an upcoming date in Pennsylvania with their appearance in Vermont. For a last minute appearance they had a respectable attendance and made some good connections with organizations in neighboring communities.

On Sunday the 12th the Big O opened in Oxford, Maine. The fair also known as the Oxford County Fair had a special Community Day event and then reopened for the remainder of the Fair run on Wednesday the 15th through Saturday the 18th. We visited the fair on Wednesday where the Flying Pages made a return appearance and new for 2010 was the Cannon Lady. Jennifer Smith Schneider has played in every state in the US, Canada and seven other countries.

On Friday night the 17th we went to Guilford for the premier of the latest addition of the Flying Wallendas Super Circus with special guests the Nerger's Lion & Tiger Show. This combined show is a fantastic attraction with the Flying Wallendas performing their famous pyramids over the cage of waiting tiger and Caesar the male African Lion down below. The crowds were terrific for this spectacle and we expect that this combined show will become a popular attraction in the years to come.

The Amazing Anastasini's brought their big top circus to Moscow,PA on September 16 to the 19th as a benefit for the Pocono Equestrian Center, a therapeutic riding program for special needs children as well as a horse rescue. The turnout was a little disappointing the Scranton area has always done well for family entertainment. The Anastasini's will look into making some changes before deciding whether or not to return.

The final weekend of September was a bit quieter with a corporate event in central Massachusetts. The event had a Renaissance theme and we had the ever popular Boris the Stilt-walker appear with his "King Richard" costume as well as his "Wizard" Costume. Boris has over 25 costumes to suit nearly any occasion. Also coming in from Ohio for the event was the enchanting "Dragon Scales & Faerie Tales" with the incredible "Enchanted Wagon" strolling act. Also coming in from Ohio was the jousting team of Hole in the Wall Farm. Jousting is a medieval form of martial arts that includes tournament style games on horse back, lance passes, as well as ground combat with swords and daggers.

Time to move onward and upward into the month of October. The events are beginning to wind down here in New England but booking for 2011 is really starting to pickup. Don't hesitate to call as we are starting to put together some routes for many of the acts not only here in New England but across the country. Now is a great time to explore entertainment options for the upcoming season.

Performer Spotlight - Accipiter Enterprises

This month we spotlight an education entertainer who brings the plight of birds of prey to audiences with a message of conservation. Kitty & Pete Carroll travel throughout the United States with one of the few free flight birds of prey shows and exhibits. Kitty is a master and eagle class falconer who has been involved in the art of falconry since 1974.

Kitty Carroll is a knowledgeable lecturer who will speak to the audience with two unique presentations of your choosing. One option would be a lecture on the conservation of our native birds of prey including the efforts of falconers to bring back the Peregrine Falcon from near extinction. This presentation includes a video or a slide show presentation. When requested some live birds and be brought in to augment the lecture. The second option would be a historical presentation of birds of prey complete with Renaissance dress and discusses birds of prey in our history and language. These lectures have been presented at schools, senior centers, corporate events, outdoor groups or anyone interested in learning more about these magnificent birds.

The Birds of the Gauntlet Exhibit and Show is the perfect attraction for fairs, festivals, equestrian events, Renaissance Fairs, Highland Games, Celtic festivals, sportsman's show, Native American Pow Wow's and more. There is a display of the birds of prey featuring falcons, owls and hawks open to the public where the birds can be viewed up close on their mews with photo opportunities where permitted. Kitty Carroll also offers shows during the day with a free flight demonstration with some of the birds showing off their natural grace and dignity. This show can be presented in modern falconry dress or in medievel dress to suit the occasion.

Some of the birds traveling with Accipiter Enterprise include Harris Hawks, Red Tail Hawks, Peregrine Falcons, Kestrals, and an amazing collection of owls. Bringing Accipiter Enterprises can have another desirable affect on your event, the disappearance of nuisance birds, such as pidgeons, gulls, etc. The mear presense of the birds of prey in the area will discourage nuisance birds from bothering your patrons at the event.

August 2010 in review

August began on a sad note with Dondi the elephant's memorial service at the Southwick Zoo on Sunday evening August 1st. Dondi passed away after a brief illness in late July. She had a very well attended service with about 100 people in attendance, including her family Joshua, Ashley, Phil, and Francine. Much of the staff of Southwick's zoo was there, many performers who knew and loved Dondi, staff from the Enchanted Forest Amusement Park in New York where she once worked as well as fair committee members from the Guilford Fair in Connecticut. Even more surprising were the everyday people who Dondi had given rides to or performed for, one lady came out from Connecticut, Dondi had given her husband a ride while he was suffering from Alzheimer's Disease. Dondi was truly an extraordinary animal who touched many, many lives and without the ability to travel and perform this would not have been possible.

On Wednesday the 4th we traveled up to the Crown of Maine as it is known to the Northern Maine Fair in Presque Isle. This is a beautiful ride right to the northern end of I-95 followed by 50 miles on Route 1 through countless potato farms. We had a chance to visit with the fair President Andy LeBlanc and also Vicenta Pages with her White Bengal Tigers that we had booked at the fair this year. We even saw motor daredevil Crash Moreau visiting the fair. Crash is a thrilling performer but also visits many, many fairs and circuses during the season and documents the layouts of each and every one. We were hoping for an appearance by the Aurora Borealis that evening since there had been a recent solar flare but the skies did not co-operate with a cloud cover much of the evening.

On Thursday the Rehoboth Fair opened on the south coast of Massachusetts. We had the Magic of Lance Gifford and Company and his amazing staging. Also at the fair was Lance's Grannie's Racing Pigs as well as Lucky Bob. This fair is everything you think of when you think country fair, a carnival midway, motor events, 4H animals and entertainment. The fair reopened about 5 years ago after a long layoff and a change of fairgrounds and fair committee. Every year the attendance has increased and it is very well received by the people in Rehoboth and the surrounding communities. The fairgrounds itself is a nice mix of open spaces and shady trees. They have grown so much and improved each and every year I cannot wait to see what the next 5 years brings.

On Monday the 9th we were called in by the Anastasini's to help bring acts to a secret location in central Maine for an all star circus rivaling some of the finest shows traveling the world. The acts for the show included the CannonLady, Sacha Pavlata(Cloud Swing), Chiara, Anastasini (Hand Balancing), Ringmaster Joe Barney, Jumbo the Clown, "The Human Inferno" - Nicholas Penny (Fire Eater & Sword Swallower) and Vicenta Pages with her White Tigers, Larry Records (Camels) and a boatload of Clowns! The show was presented at 6 am!!!!

We spend a lot of time in August preparing for Labor Day Weekend's Spencer Fair, making all the final advertising and promotional arrangements with the media. Spencer is an event that the media looks forward to each year as it is the largest event in Worcester County and a long time family favorite.

The end of August we had the Flying Wallenda's making a return engagement for the Union Fair and their talent buyer Diana Ammon of Atlantic Music Productions. The fair is well known for also being the Maine Blueberry Festival.

This Great photo of the Flying Wallendas is courtesy of Legendary Daredevil & Movie Star Crash Moreau.

On Thursday the 26th we traveled up to Lyndonville, Vermont for the Caledonia County Fair, we had a visit with midway operator Bob DeStefano of Dreamland Amusements. We also had an opportunity to visit with the Flying Pages and Vicenta Pages and her White Tigers.

On Friday we headed over for the set up day at Champlain Valley Exposition where both the Nerger's Tigers and the Anastasini Circus under the big top were making return performances.

Saturday was opening day of the Champlain Valley Exposition and is was a very busy opening day. We had a chance to catch a couple performances each of both Nerger's and the Anastasini's. This year's Anastasini Circus included Heidi Herriott ring-mistress and big & little horses, Luciano's Pound Puppies, the Globe of Death, Rola Bola, Rocky the boxing kangaroo, Nicholas Souren juggling & contortion. It was nice to see the crowds at the fair were filling the tent right from the very first performance.

Most of the month of August was extremely hot here in the Northeast, with many, many days reaching well into the 90's normally we have just a handful of 90 degree days in a summer this year it was not unusual to have a handful of 90 degree days in a week!

We are looking forward to having a very busy September!
